Setting a mat fence - step by step
A matting fence is stable, safe and sustainable. To set it costs the landowner not even a full day.
1. Decision between single-rod and double-rod variant
Before the start of construction, the decision must be made between a single-rod or double-rod matting fence. Both fence systems consist of spot-welded steel wires. However, one-bar mat fences are less strong and thus lighter than the double-bar variant. As a garden fence for private property, they usually provide adequate protection, while industrial areas are more adequately protected by a heavy double-rod mesh fence.
Since single-rod variants may be the more common choice, this setting guide deals with them.
2. A foundation for the round posts
The supplied single-wall fence elements in the desired dimensions require round posts at intervals of about two meters each. These round posts are included with most matting sets and are usually made of metal. Attention: If a goal is desired, ideally one of the round posts will carry the gate suspension at the factory.
For the stable anchoring of the posts, a concrete foundation is required. To do this, dig holes about 40 centimeters deep and fill with concrete, gravel and concrete again. Before the concrete hardens, put the round posts in the holes, straighten them out and compact the concrete.
3. Clamps as a link for the mesh fence
Single and double clamps are used to attach the fence elements to the round posts. The center and corner posts carry double clamps. Everyone else comes with single clamps. Place one of the elements at the bottom and one at the top around the posts.
Be careful with the bottom clamp, because the fence elements should later hang in such a way that about 50 millimeters separate them from the floor.
4. Set fence elements
If all round posts are equipped with clamps, then set the individual fence fields. Insert the fence panels into the open clamps and align. Then tighten the screws and the metal fence stands. A fence at the future matting fence is now empty. The garden gate can be set to this empty spot.
5. Garden Gate Installation
At the post with the gate mounts, the garden gate now finds its place to complete the fence. Hook the gate element into the suspensions and align with the nuts by turning them. Then tighten the nuts, insert the pusher and lock, and attach the fitting. Finished. Subsequently, modifications can be made for privacy or other special requirements.
6. Adaptation to special requirements
In order to turn a matting fence into a privacy fence, plastic mats can be wired to the rods on the inside. The mat fence surface can be covered with wire mesh just as well, so that you can plug in the mats mentioned in this disguise. However, it is advisable to think about possible visual protection requirements before setting the fence. This reduces the workload, because fence elements can then be ordered with matting.
