A prefabricated ceiling for small buildings, such as a garage, usually has great advantages and hardly any disadvantages. But there are exceptions.

Types of Prefabricated Ceilings

A concrete floor cast by a concrete company on site is a so-called cast-in-situ construction and is not one of the finished ceilings. All other types of ceiling are usually fully or partially pre-fabricated ceilings.

A fully prefabricated ceiling consists of a single prestressed concrete slab placed on the garage like a cover on the ground. The connection is usually made using liquid concrete, which is introduced into the joint.

Partially prefabricated ceilings produce ceiling elements in a factory. These are element ceilings of different types. Lattice girder ceilings are steel grids into which concrete slabs are to be placed on site.

Filigree ceilings are thin concrete slabs to which concrete must still be poured on site. There are also beamed ceilings as element ceilings. The work prepares the beams and joins them together to form elements.

A finished ceiling is usually not provided with thermal insulation; it must be applied after installation and concreting. Normally, the ceiling belongs to the bodyshell and insulation only takes place after it has been completed.

Advantages and disadvantages of different ceilings in a garage

The owner saves the complicated covering of the ceiling on a prefabricated ceiling and uses it in concrete to water. Element ceilings are not ready-made ceilings in the sense that they merely replace boarding but not casting.

Builders who board themselves and have enough time can save money by doing their own work. As a rule, however, it is not the landlord who lends a hand, but paid artisans. Their hourly wages and the required sheathing are more expensive than an element ceiling.

A prestressed concrete ceiling causes the least amount of work on the construction site. Overall, it is the cheapest solution. But the delivery vehicles often can not reach the construction site and if there is no crane on site, the assembly becomes more expensive. Prestressed concrete is certainly the cheapest solution during construction, when the machines are already available.

Filigree ceilings or lattice girder ceilings are usually ideal for garages. The building can be done quickly and yet the builder can provide his own contribution.

Preliminary work and cost calculation for the garage ceiling

The walls must not have large overhangs on the top. The building owner should cut off any "food batches" so that the ceiling can lie flat.

In general, the company needs the inside and outside dimensions of the garage to make the elements or the ceiling. If recesses are desired, these must be specified.

The costs are usually calculated according to the square meters of the ceiling. Builders are on the safe side, if they call themselves a complete price with delivery. Some companies only mention the pure maximum price without specific demand.

Furthermore, it is important to consider which additional material is required. In addition to concrete for pouring the elements are usually still insulating materials and a sealing covering necessary. There are big differences here. Some systems require only a thin layer of concrete, while others require several centimeters.
