Kitchen Cabinets with Mounting Rails
Kitchen cabinets can be attached to any wall with mounting rails. Adjusting the cabinets is child's play with the rails.
1. Determine the exact measurement and height of the drill holes
First, determine the distance between the center of the mounting holes in the rail and the top edge of the wall unit. The distance can be measured by holding the rail under the tabs of the cabinet from below. Now you can measure the distance between the mounting holes and the upper edge of the cabinet. It is usually 55 millimeters. On the wall is now a point to mark. It must be at this distance below the desired upper edge of the cabinet. Starting from this point, draw a horizontal line with a spirit level. Later you will find the drill holes.
2. Cutting the mounting rails and marking the holes
Mounting rails have the advantage that several cabinets hang side by side on a rail. The upper edges are therefore exactly in line. The rail should be shortened to the width of all cabinets. After cutting with a hacksaw, align the rail with the mounting holes on the marked line to mark the holes.
3. Drilling the Holes
Kitchens have many leads. Drilling is not advisable over water connections, sockets or cooker connection boxes. It is better to select another mounting hole of the rail. In addition, it makes sense to provide with a line locator certainty in order not to tap pipes. The size of the holes and the type of dowels depend on the material of the wall. Per cabinet four holes are recommended.
4. Mounting the rails
A dowel is hammered into each drill hole. He must be flush with the wall. Now hold the rail over the marked line again to screw in the first and the last screw in the respective dowels. The mounting rail is now fixed to the wall. It is advisable to measure again, if the rail runs horizontally. If this fits correctly, the remaining screws can be screwed in.
5. Attaching the Kitchen Cabinets and Adjusting
Hooking the cabinets onto the mounting rails is easier if no doors are installed. These are so first hang. The tabs automatically reach behind the rail when the cabinet slides vertically from top to bottom along the wall.
It's important to push the cabinets together before aligning so they hang side by side with no gaps. The tabs are fastened to cabinet hangers inside the cabinet. At this is a screw, over which the flap can be moved. In this way, the kitchen cabinets align at right angles to the wall. With a spirit level, the correct position can be easily controlled. Now you hang kitchen cabinets close together and the floors are exactly horizontal.
