Descaling the bath - tips and tricks

Stubborn limescale on the shower door

A good home remedy is to put dishwasher rinse aid in an empty spray bottle and spray the slices with it. Then use the window wiper to pull off the glass. To prevent stains, treat the glass with a rain-repellent agent; the lotus effect causes the water to run off.

Too much lime on the shower hose will damage it, making it porous and brittle. At the first signs of lime, the shower hose should be unscrewed. In a solution of decalcifier and hot water, the lime dissolves. Afterwards the lime can be removed with a sponge.

Citric acid

helps with the perlator. The mixing nozzle, the perlator, on the faucet, is most affected by calcification in the bath. After unscrewing it comes best in citric acid overnight. With a toothbrush, the strainer can be cleaned the next day and the water runs again without splashing.

Toothpaste helps with chrome

The surface of the faucet is made of sensitive chrome. Limescale deposits are treated with toothpaste. Apply with a soft cloth and then rinse with water and polish dry. Thereafter, the fittings shine like new.
